What is a cheap, but good quality hotel in San Diego, near the San Diego Convention Center?

I'm going for a conference from Dec 5-9 this year. I've looked into the Comfort Inn Gaslamp and the Ramada Hotel in the Gaslamp district, but I can't find anything cheaper. The Marriott and the Hilton are just a tad bit expensive for me. travelforless4utravelforless4u
